Bowman Lake, near Tahoe - May 2016

NCLR planned a family weekend camping trip to Bowman Lake near Tahoe in May of 2016. With all the rain we received over the winter thanks to El Nino, the lake was full and the snow melt created a beautiful waterfall. We hiked to the rushing water at the far end of the lake which was spectacular. Later that night, the kids watched a movie projected on a screen strung up between trees while the parents enjoyed some libations around the fire. Sunday, we explored the backcountry and new trails seen on the GPS. Some of the trails hadn't seen traffic in years and were overgrown, including some downed trees. We were envetually stopped by the snow drifts near the peak and backtracked to the lake. Overall, a fun weekend of camping and exploring the Sierras.
